SALON IRIS is the salon software management program of CMJ Design, a company founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brighton, Michigan.
Salon Iris, like many in this review, provides a full-featured program that is easy to navigate. Pages are well organized. A demo can be downloaded and reviewed for an unlimited period of time. The software has been made available for purchase or lease. Flexible payment plans that include fees are available. A software purchase can be cancelled within 30 days for a full refund. Free training, free tech support and free software updates are available for a 1-year period from the time of purchase. The company also provides helpful training videos on YouTube. Individual hardware items are available individually or as a package for outright purchase or on 12 or 24 month payment plans with fees. Software is priced for solo practitioners to larger salons.
With CD installation, one must be sure to regularly (daily recommended) backup data, preferably on an external storage device. Online booking is available but only with a year’s subscription of $249 per year, or $29 per month. An automatic call reminder for clients is available with a $25 setup fee and a separate usage fee, but program does offer automatic text and email notifications. The “Multi-Computers” cost (to run the system for unlimited employees, 2 computers to start, and run on multiple computers, LAN connected) is $1899 for outright purchase (or starting at $109/mo.); or the software can be leased for $199 a month.
While this is excellent and full functioning software supported and backed by a respected company, price is an issue and one must be assiduous in backing up their data in case of a crash or other event that corrupts or causes the loss or wipeout of data.
